It is unlawful for any real estate broker, real estate salesperson or employee or agent thereof to refuse to make available for viewing or to refuse to negotiate for the sale, rental, or lease of any housing accommodation to any person or group of persons because of the actual or perceived race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age, lawful occupation, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or alienage, or citizenship status of such person or persons, or because children are, may be or would be residing with such person or persons.

If you believe that you have been denied the opportunity to view, buy, rent, or lease housing, you may file a complaint with the New York City Commission on Human Rights. For information, contact the New York City Commission on Human Rights at 212-306-7450.
